Le Meilleur Substrat pour Vos Anthurium : Recette Testée et Approuvée

The Best Substrate for Your Anthurium: Tested and Approved Recipe

Looking for a substrate to use for your Anthuriums? Stay tuned for the best recipe I've tried so far.

I've been searching for months for the perfect substrate recipe for my Anthuriums to slowly wean myself off sphagnum moss. After several tests and a few failures, I think I've arrived at something really good.

THE Substrate recipe:

  • 2 parts tree fern (tree fern fibers)
  • 1 part coconut husks
  • 1 part pine bark
  • 1 part pumice
  • 1 part perlite
  • 1 part vegetable charcoal
  • 0.5 parts of humus or vermicompost

You can find these ingredients in various stores. Personally, I buy tree fern from Plantscraper (get 10% off sitewide with affiliate code YOUNGBOTANIST), coconut husks and pumice from Sybotanica (also 10% off sitewide with the same affiliate code), and finally, I buy perlite from my local grow shop.

Currently, I use this mix on large Anthuriums or directly to germinate seeds. However, I have no feedback yet on transferring young seedlings directly into this substrate.

Growing Conditions:

I grow my Anthuriums in a humid environment, in a greenhouse with an average humidity above 90%. I water on average twice a week. Depending on your growing conditions, this recipe may need adjustments.

I hope this recipe works as well in your home as it did in mine! Please let me know how it goes or tag me on Instagram.
